BRIAN RIG

The Brian Rig was made for my "Luck At The Slots" animated short.

The model for Brian himself was modelled by the talented character modeler Makar Malicki who I follow on instagram. Brian's model is available for purchase on Makar's turbosquid webstore at:

I was not happy with settling on just making a character rig that was just joints and controls so with this rig I set out to expand my knowledge on character rigging further.  The big features on this rig I
sought to learn are Ribbons controls, stretchy limb bones and a set of facial controls paired with a Face Picker with driven Blend Shapes.  I intentionally chose these features so my character would be able to better act and so I could do a better job at doing a toony stretch with him at the end of the short that what could be done with just using bones.

Making Brian's Rig required learning how to use nodes to quickly and cleanly connect his controls to attributes found in his mesh and the specialized ribbon controlled parts of his skeleton. Below is a brief overview of his rig's special functions I made for an email to a dear friend who has helped guide me this previous year.
